The Jogging Congressman
from It's a New Day added 17 January, 2009 at 12:06 PM

People in D.C. love to jog. It was a bone-chilling 15 degrees this morning, and still, joggers were everywhere, each one wearing an outfit more ridiculous than the last, ranging from the space-age to just plain geeky.
We were doing interviews near the Lincoln memorial, and I stopped one of them to talk. Five minutes into our conversation, he turned out to be a congressman! His name is Earl Blumenauer, and he represents the district in Oregon that includes Portland. Not exactly a lightweight. Check out his website.
So apparently, if you stop random people on the street, there's a 20% chance that one of them is in Congress. Also, congressman are not ashamed to go out in public dressed like they're about to compete in the Luge.
